Why does Tidings recommend a maximum of 5 stories per newsletter?

We strongly recommend limiting your included articles to a maximum of 5, in order to stay under Gmail’s message size limit (and keep your subscribers interested all the way through the newsletter). We’ve spent a lot of R&D time minimizing the amount of code used in the Tidings newsletter template, which has the added benefit of making your newsletters load more quickly than those using templates provided by Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or Emma, among others.

Nonetheless, including more than 5 stories puts your emails at risk of being marked [Message Clipped] in Gmail, one of the largest email providers on the planet, which is a sub-optimal experience for your subscribers.

ESP (Email Service Provider) Integrations

Tidings integrates with Mailchimp.

  • We’ve been sending our Minutive newsletter with it since March 2016 and we love it.
  • It’s free up to 2,000 subscribers, making it a great option for small businesses on a budget.
  • It provides fantastic data around who’s opening your newsletter and what stories they’re clicking on.
  • There’s LOTS of third-party plugins for website platforms like WordPress that make collecting email addresses in Mailchimp a cinch.
  • We’ve found its API (fancy tech word for a universal code translator) to be the best-documented and most-reliable around.

For those of you with existing Mailchimp accounts, connecting Tidings to Mailchimp literally takes one click.

If you don’t yet have a Mailchimp account, we recommend creating one today!

Constant Contact

Tidings integrates with Constant Contact.

Keep your existing lists, address collection mechanisms, and campaign history in place, and use Tidings to make things even faster and easier.

Tidings integrates with Sendgrid.

Simply enter the API key from your SendGrid account within your account settings and we’ll automatically pull in the lists, segments, and unsubscribe options from your account for full use within Tidings.
